In March, 2004 the Long Beach Long Riders, 8 motorcycles and a chase car (11 people in all) set off on a cross country charity ride. The goal was to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, raise AIDS awareness within the technical community in the entertainment business and have some fun. By any measure you choose to use, we succeeded. The trip went so well, in fact, that we decided to take what we thought was going to be a one time ride and turn it into an annual event.

Our destination for our 2nd annual ride was Rapid City, South Dakota. Realizing that we weren't going back to Long Beach, we changed our name to the Long Reach Long Riders. Our goals for this ride were to increase the number of riders by at least half and double the amount of donations. We were successful on both counts. Our bike number increased to 12 and we raised over $28,000.00.

For the 2006 ride we returned to Rapid City, South Dakota where we raised over $32,000 for our two designated charities, Broadway Cares /Equity Fights AIDS and the ESTA Foundations Behind the Scenes program.

2007 saw a new concept for the ride. Rather than end the ride somewhere off in the distance, we felt a loop might work better. The ride started and ended in Philadelphia with a 7 day meander through New England in between. We had the most ridership yet; some days we had as many as 21 bikes. And we raised $70,000.00!

This year, our 5th, will find us in the Southwest. The ride begins and ends in Las Vegas. In between we'll ride through some of the most glorious, and harsh, scenery in the world. Among other places we'll be stopping at Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley and, of course, the Grand Canyon.

Please take a look at the route and schedule to see if you can join us. We start out from Las Vegas on May 11th and we return on May 18th, We would be thrilled to have you ride with us. If you are thinking about riding with us, please check out the registration page for more details.

If you can’t join us this year, please consider making a donation. Either way you’ll be helping to make a difference.

Thanks
The Long Reach Long Riders
