Cris rode with us as far
as he could, but
design gigs and other
last-minute changes
to his commitments
kept him from the full ride
this year. Next year, he'll
be back in his accus-
tomed spot in the line-up.
Felix, from The CB
Shop, exit 89 or so on
I-95 in Virginia, tuned
Moe's CB, and sold him
a new antennae to
match the new CB he
had to buy when he let
the magic smoke out of
the previous CB radio.
Felix was very helpful
and knowledgeable.

Uncle Bill reports from the East Coast:
Everyone made it to DC safely, but the traffic proved to be a bit daunting. Bill, Mike and Katie (Mike's wife) made the 2.5 hour drive in a measly hours. Greg, Matt and Moe had similar difficulties coming from the south. But the trophy for travel time has to go to David. He came in from the UK yesterday.

For those keeping track, it took Bill and Mike exactly 45 minutes before they got into their first argument. It happened on I-495 just below Wilmington. There they were, going 70 mph 3' away from each other "discussing" which road to take.

The drive from the hotel to the Black Rooster was pretty intense. Most of the folks have not spent a lot of time in DC so the traffic patterns were confusing. Needless to say, we got lost. At one point Mike stopped traffic so a small group of bikes could make a semi-legal turn. And I'm not sure Greg would approve of the new riding techniques that Bill and Mike were teaching Matt.

But we all made it alive and had a good time meeting the new folks Greg Johnson, David Edelstein, Matt Williams and Mike Sapsis as well as the friends and family that stopped by.

Tomorrow we begin the ride. It's the longest day of the trip and it will be interesting seeing how the various riding styles mesh, but it's Sunday so the traffic shouldn't be too bad.

Loren reports from the West Coast:
Well, Cerebus, my old 1980 Yamaha 850XS triple wouldn't start today, no matter how many times I kicked it over. Seems like she just doesn't want to make this trip. There have been numerous impediments to her taking the trip--missing windshield bolts, bad starter, worn back tire--so I guess it is only fitting that I put her out to pasture and ride my wife's 1997 Honda Magna 750 instead. It won't be the same tho'.

I'm still a little short in the donations area, but I'm hoping to have made that up by the time I finish the ride. It's all for a good cause after all. Looking forward to seeing Razz in St. George tomorrow.
