Greetings. Day 3 was a carbon copy of the previous day. The weather was great for riding and we took full advantage of it.

We left Ottawa during the morning rush hour. Fueling up at the Ottawa version of the Hess Taxi-cab gas station on 10th Avenue in NYC was an interesting event, but we all survived. Dennis and Scott had left a little earlier to get to Potsdam and get lunch arranged. The rest of us hit the highway for the quick run down to the border and the surprisingly fast border crossing.

Note to bikers: The bridge at Ogdenburg is metal grating from start to finish. It's a little nerve wracking.

But then we're back stateside and meandering our way to Middlebury VT. We found some nice twisty roads our Lake Placid that, after the flatlands of Canada, were a lot of fun.

Lunch was at SUNY/Potsdam. Dennis Gill Booth had gone to school there and he arranged for the school to provide lunch. After the Harley boys got back from the shop...they'd all gone over to watch Matt get a new tire put on his Buel...we continued down the road.

It should be understood that every time we stopped for gas, every water break, even when we stopped for directions, kazoos were handed out to the unsuspecting citizenry. We spared no one. Every man, woman and child that we got close enough to got one.

The Middlebury Inn lived up to expectations. The buildings are lovely and we were treated like special guests. (Or maybe they do it this way for everyone??) After checking in we met up with two more of our riders. Mike Sapsis and Richard Gagliardi were there waiting for us along with my friend Deb Butt.

Dinner was in a park around the corner from the hotel and it was provided by Jim Dougherty and Allison Rimmer. Rib and burgers, salads and chocolate for dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We finished the day swapping stories at a local tavern. A fine, fine day indeed.
