Hi folks. I'm writing this from my room in the lodge at Zion National Park.
The ride out from Las Vegas today was pretty much uneventful. Except for the winds on rte 215 up near Elim Nevada. And the cold. And, oh yeah, the ride through the Virgin River canyon near Hurricane, NV. Now that was something. It's interstate highway and all but it runs through a night tight canyon, so the road is more than a little twistie. It goes on for 11 miles. We, ah, er, ahem, may have let the bikes run out a little. Can't say for certain how fast we were going but let's just say it took us considerably less than 11 minutes to traverse the canyon. Yup. Good fun.
We had lunch in Hurricane while Greg had a new tire put on. Then it was off to Zion. The scenery on the road in is nice but nothing compared to Zion itself. Cliff faces over 1,500 feet tall on both sides of the river. It's truly beautiful. I can't possibly do it justice so have a look at the pictures. Hopefully they'll give you an idea of how incredible it is here.
Scott Henkels and Josh Prues joined us around dinnertime. So now we are a full compliment. 11 motocycles, one skooter and a chase car. We make for a good looking (and sounding) parade. By the way, Starr is doing great on the skooter. She is keeping up really well. Tomorrow will be a true test, however, when we start climbing up to 8,000 feet or so.
Hope you are enjoying the pictures.
Be well
Bill
